Finale

It was a memorable Closing Ceremony and even more so an amazing Olympic Games that will live on in the hearts of the Chinese and the hearts of many forever. From a showing of perfect fusion of all five elements, a Chinese symbolism, to more Chinese spirit in a man made tower to hold the now extinguished Olympic cauldron. But while now only smoke steams from the cauldron, the memories of Beijing will always be evident as a new cauldron is lit and the epic contingincy that the ancient Olympians began nearly 2,000 years ago continues.

Great table tennis

I just witnessed a rerun of a great table tennis match in the mens singles first round between Pradeen Peter-Paul of Canada and Gustavo Tsuboi of Brasil. The match went to the full seven games marking an incredible comeback by Peter-Paul in the 6th set coming back from a 3 games to 2 deficit as well as a deficit in the sixth game. Following this, came another comeback, this one by Tsuboi as he was down by several points in the final set and came back forcing the game to 12 points where he finally won. You can check out table tennis reruns along with other sports not commonly shown on NBC's primetime coverage on CNBC, USA, and other NBC affiliated networks.

Michael Phelps wins 8th medal, Olympic best.

It hardly needs explaining, Michael Phelps recently surpassed Mark Spitz for the most Olympic medals at a single Olympics, when he got his eighth medal in Beijing during the Men's 4 x 100 meter relay. Congratulations Michael on a great achievement. Scratch that, an achievement truly beyond words. Greatest Olympian of all time? Keep in mind Spitz had a stache..

Phelps makes Olympic history

Michael Phelps made Olympic history when he won his 10th Olympic gold medal via the Men's 200 meter butterfly. He now has more gold medals than anyone in Olympic history. It's amazing to think how difficult it is to win an Olympic medal, much less a gold medal, much less 10. Congratulations Michael.

USA VS China

It was an exciting display of defensive blocks, break-aways, and shots for both sides as China played hard but couldn't come up against all-star teamwork for a U.S. 101-70 victory. It was great to see that although the United States was up by a large amount in the fourth quarter, Yao Ming cheered on his team on every positive play from the bench.

U.S. men take 2 out of 3 in swimming event, then wonder at Beijing's audio work

It was an exiting event today as the almost legendary Michael Phelps took gold in the legend-worthy Water Cube in Beijing during a men's 400 m event. Hungarian Laszlo Cseh took silver, while fellow American Ryan Lochte earned the bronze.

Meanwhile, during the medal ceremony, while the U.S. National Anthem was being blasted through the Water Cube, myself standing in the kitchen with my hand over my heart, the anthem abruptly stopped. Phelps and even President Bush had a nice laugh but it's certainly a surprise error after a brilliant opening ceremony.
